Sodium tripolyphosphate, an industrial ingredient in cleaning products, is a white powder (Na5P3O10) with stable properties. With a density between 0.7 and 1.0 g/cm³, a melting point of 650 to 1000ºC, and a pH of 9.5 to 10.5 in aqueous solution at 1%, it stands out for its stability under normal conditions. Industrially obtained, its formula results from the stoichiometric mixture of disodium and monosodium phosphate, carefully controlled.
Sodium tripolyphosphate is multifunctional, acting as a stabilizing agent, emulsifier, flotation agent, soil enhancer and stabilizer. In the food industry, it is used as a stabilizer in long-life milk. In the cleaning sector, it stands out in the production of detergents and washing powder.
Regarding storage, it is recommended to keep it in a cool, well-ventilated place, protected from heat, ignition sources, and flames, in a sealed container. Its shelf life is 24 months from the date of manufacture.
