Amida 90, with a concentration of 90%, is a coconut fatty acid diethanolamide. Compatible with non-ionic, anionic, and biodegradable surfactants, it is widely used in the cosmetic industry due to its thickening and degreasing properties. For more information and quotes, contact Maian.
Main characteristics of Amide 90
Amide 90 is widely used in the manufacture of shampoos, emulsions, and bubble baths. In conjunction with sulfated fatty alcohols, its interaction strengthens foam stability. In addition to the properties shared with amides 60 and 80, it stands out for offering dermal protection, preventing skin dryness. Its high purity allows for the reduction of salts as electrolytes, decreasing irritability and cloud point in formulations. Recommended for liquid soaps and degreasers due to their need for superfatting of the skin.
Obtaining
Diethanolamides, such as amide 60 and amide 80, are obtained directly from vegetable oil or methyl ester (amide 90). The purity of the amides varies according to the method of production. Amide 90 has a purity of 90% to 94%, 3% to 5% of free amine, 1% to 1.5% of glycerin, and the remainder is unreacted methyl ester after the removal of methanol from the product.
Amide 90 Applications
Amide 90 is widely used in the cosmetics industry in shampoos, liquid and creamy soaps, bath foams and gels, and shaving creams. Its functions include emulsifier, emulsion stabilizer, foam booster, viscosity regulator, and surfactant. The recommended dosage generally ranges between 2% and 5%.
